The Headquarters was originally the Monks residence to the Catholic High School, Cardinal Langley next door. Greater Manchester North Scouts County purchased the building in 1998 and was officially opened by HRH Princess Alexandra in May 1998. Since then, the building has been used as a Scout Leader training centre, providing the whole of Greater Manchester North (Oldham, Rochdale, Bury & Bolton) with numerous qualified Leaders, as well as extra training in Archery, Climbing, & Nights Away Permits.

In the last few years, the building has undergone major work on the Kitchen and refurbishments of the upstairs bringing the total number of available beds from 30 to 53 sleepers. The downstairs of the building has also undergone changes such as new laminate flooring and decorating throughout.

In 2007 the County purchased a marble wolf statue to commemorate the 100 years anniversary of Scouting and stands on the front of the building to remember our founder Robert Baden Powell.
